Experiment Set
Alkanes + Cl + NOx

Goals
Find SOA yield for octane + Cl under high NOx condition (NO and NO2 injected) at RH=35%. Investigate volatility behavior based on 2D thermograms.

Summary
Ammonium sulfate seed (0.01M, 150 mL) was injected using an aerosol generation system. Cl2 gas, NO and NO2 gas were injected from their cylinders. 1 uL of octane was injected into a glass bulb and heated clean air was made to flow over it, carrying the volatilized octane into the chamber. After ~30 mins (sufficient mixing time), lights were turned on for 1 hour (14:47:52-15:48:00). 16.8 ug/m3 of SOA was formed, giving a mass yield of 0.24. This is Exp#4 in associated publication.

Additional Notes
In the ACSM .csv file, exp_time_ACSM=0 is the time at which UV lights are turned on. Traces labelled as "X_corr_S" have been corrected for particle phase wall losses based on SEMS volume data.

Name: Alkanes + Cl + NOx
Time format and units: CST time following format hh:mm AM/PM
Description:
Chlorine-initiated oxidation of n-Alkanes (C8-12) under high nitrogen oxides conditions was investigated. 12 experiments were conducted overall where secondary organic aerosol yields were determined, vapor and particle-phase product composition was studied (using FIGAERO-CIMS), and two-dimensional thermograms from the FIGAERO data were used to investigate volatility of products formed.
