Light Flux Characterization #24 - 2018-07-20

ID:
24

Name:
UV light intensity - new chamber

Instrument ID:
PS-200 Spectroradiometer with hemispherical cosine corrector (#400)

Chamber:
LHR Chamber

Date of characterization experiment:
2018-07-20

Months since calibration:

Measurement technique:
The irradiance measurements were conducted by using a spectroradiometer (apogee instruments, model PS-200). The equipment included a cosine corrected head. The data was recorded using the software included with the package – “SpectraWiz”. The cosine corrected head was placed inside the chamber for irradiance measurements. Before every measurement, the integration time was set as high as possible without saturating, as recommended by the manufacturer. After this step, a dark scan was performed by covering the end of the fiber-optic cable. This served as the “zero” value. The instrument recorded average spectrum on ~ 1 Hz frequency. It was used in the “radiometer” mode which enabled saving data in irradiance units (W/m2)

Total number of lights:
240

Light percentage on:
100

Light intensity:
The light-to-light intensity was only visually inspected. Right before this characterization, all chamber lights were turned on and those that appeared relatively dim or burnt out were replaced with new bulbs.

Light source type:
UV-A Blacklight

Position and pattern of lights:
Lights are fixed on the environmental chamber structure that houses the Teflon bag. They are aligned vertically up to the top of the environmental room and cover all of the top, right, left, back sides of the room and half of the front side (other half is for the chamber door).

Data collection description:
The irradiance measurements were conducted by using a spectroradiometer (Apogee instruments, model PS-100). The equipment included a cosine corrected head. The data was recorded using the software included with the package – “SpectraWiz”. The cosine corrected head was placed inside the chamber for irradiance measurements. After this step, a dark scan was performed by covering the end of the fiber-optic cable. This served as the “zero” value. The instrument recorded average spectrum on ~ 1 Hz frequency. Measurements are taken as irradiance (W/m2) at every wavelength (nm) from 185 to 850 nm. Measurements were repeated 3 times as indicated by the columns in the csv file (Irradiance1, Irradiance2, Irradiance3).

Data analysis description:
The spectroradiometer was used in the “radiometer” mode which enabled saving data in irradiance units (W/m2). No further analysis was conducted on the data.
