Experiment Set
Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics from Liu CC 2019 (various organic and inorganic seed aerosol types)
Goals
Fast burst photooxidation of alkanols (high-NOx). Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics. Determine accommodation coefficient (alpha) and effective volatility under differing seed aerosol types (differing phase and polarities, inorganic/organic, humid/dry, standards/SOA).
Summary
Alkanols, Methyl nitrite, NO, and particle seed added to chamber, UV lights turned on for 10 sec, multifunctional products formed. In most experiments in this experimental set, 10-s UV light/photochemistry burst repeated a few times. SMPS measurements of particle size distributions were conducted to determine particle formation, surface area and condensational sink rate coefficients. Gas-phase chemical species were measured with nitrate CIMS.Experiment Details

Name: Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics from Liu CC 2019 (various organic and inorganic seed aerosol types)
Time format and units: All times UTC. Data is in Igor time, sec since midnight 1904
Description:
Fast burst photooxidation of alkanols (high-NOx). Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics of multifunctional oxidize species generated. Determine accommodation coefficient (alpha) and effective volatility under differing seed aerosol types (differing phase and polarities, inorganic/organic, humid/dry, standards/SOA). (Liu et al., 2019). In one experiment, toluene was oxidized instead of the alkanol mixture.
These data were also used for investigating activity coefficients (gamma) of the oxidized species in the different seed particles (Liu et al., 2021).
